Job Overview:
ROKADE Group is looking for a Mechanical Design & Technical Engineer for its Centrifugal Blowers & Industrial Fans Division. The engineer will be responsible for blower/fan design, technical calculations, drawing preparation, selection of components, technical proposals, manufacturing coordination, inspection and customer technical support.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Centrifugal Blower & Fan Design
Design and engineer centrifugal blowers and industrial fans as per customer requirements.
Work with air/gas flow, static/total pressure, RPM, temperature, density, motor power and efficiency.
Select suitable impeller, casing, shaft, bearing and drive arrangement.
Develop new blower designs and modify existing designs.
Review existing customer blower/fan samples and develop suitable replacement designs.
2. Mechanical Design & Drawings
Prepare and modify 2D/3D mechanical drawings.
Prepare GA, assembly, component, fabrication, shaft, impeller and base-frame drawings.
Prepare accurate BOMs and technical specifications.
Ensure drawings are suitable for manufacturing and fabrication.
3. Engineering Calculations
Assist with impeller selection/sizing, shaft sizing, power requirement, RPM/peripheral speed, bearing selection, belt/drive arrangement, structural support, material selection and operating temperature calculations.
Consider critical-speed requirements where applicable.
4. Customer Technical Support
Study customer enquiries and convert requirements into technical specifications.
Review customer drawings, photographs and existing blower details.
Prepare technical offers and GA drawings.
Participate in technical discussions with customers.
Support sales team in technical clarification and product selection.
Visit customer sites for inspection, measurement, application study, troubleshooting and replacement requirements.
5. Manufacturing Coordination
Coordinate with fabrication and manufacturing teams.
Ensure components are manufactured as per approved drawings.
Clarify technical issues during fabrication.
Coordinate with vendors for outsourced components.
Review deviations and implement design modifications where required.
6. Testing & Quality
Support blower/fan performance testing.
Verify rotation, vibration, noise, bearing temperature, motor current, RPM and mechanical clearances.
Coordinate dynamic balancing of impellers and rotating assemblies.
Review balancing reports and ensure required balancing quality is achieved.
Assist in final inspection and documentation.
7. Installation & Commissioning Support
Provide technical support during installation and commissioning.
Assist in identifying alignment issues, vibration issues, airflow/pressure problems, bearing issues, structural issues and drive-related problems. Analyse field observations and recommend corrective actions
Qualification
Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering
Experience
1–5 years preferred in centrifugal blowers, industrial fans, HVAC fans, rotating equipment, pumps, compressors, mechanical design or industrial machinery.
Software Skills
AutoCAD.
SolidWorks / Creo / Inventor or equivalent 3D CAD software.
MS Excel and MS Word.
Basic engineering calculation tools.
Technical Skills
Fluid mechanics, thermodynamics and machine design fundamentals.
Strength of materials and rotating machinery.
Bearings, shafts, couplings and belt drives.
Fabrication, welding and mechanical tolerances.
Dynamic balancing.
Knowledge of fan/blower performance curves and system resistance calculations is an advantage.
